Will Corey
Director of Broadcasting at Miami of Ohio
Will is the Director of Broadcasting at Miami University where he leads a primarily student-driven production team responsible for ESPN+ broadcasts of men's and women's basketball and volleyball, statewide television coverage of hockey, and the football videoboard show. Under his leadership, the crew produced the broadcasts for Miami's historic 30-0 men's basketball regular season, including the first 29-0 NCAA Div I men's basketball to be broadcast on ESPN+. He remains committed to learning and collaborating with fellow programs to advance collegiate sports productions.
How many years have you been working in the industry?
I first started working for the North Alabama football team in 2012 doing practice film, then transitioned in 2015-16 to helping with all sports broadcasting.
What is your favorite position to work?
I enjoy directing. Getting to orchestrate a show and seeing the results is a blast.
What is your favorite sport to broadcast?
Hockey. I had zero experience with it before I got to Miami, and since then it's become my favorite sport to broadcast. There is always action, the fans are into it, and it's intense.
What is one lesson you have learned that you would like to share with others?
Surround yourself with good people who want to always learn and be better. Working at a university means we are always learning, from staff to students.
What are your career goals?
Just to continue to do what I can to help the next generation of sports broadcasting professionals.
What is your favorite memory from working in the industry?
This past season with Miami Men's Basketball, we were able to broadcast a 29-0 #19 ranked team on ESPN+ in front of 10k+ fans, which I'm not sure if that's ever happened. The game was intense, and we clinched the regular season championship.
